DEEPENING CRISES: CORONA MENACE
In October 2010 in a long paper presented in the world astrological conference in Vishakhapatnam on mundane astrology, Glimmer of Hope in a Strife Torn World I presented my finding that world war three would take place after 2031 and in the meantime there can be many minor and major wars. I saw no world war three I found 2020 a diffiicult year and predicted in 2016 that Tokyo Olympics would be affected and may not be held.( see this article Appendix One) read more...read more...
HONG KONG - DANGER YEARS AHEAD
Hong Kong is governed under the principle of "one country, two systems", under which China has agreed to give the region a high degree of autonomy and to preserve its economic and social systems for 50 years from the date of the handover. Can we trust China to keep that commitment ? Hundreds of thousands of people in Hong Kong have continued to protest in the streets since demonstrations began in June 2019.The protests started as an outcry over an extradition bill and have reawakened Hong Kong's pro-democracy
movement.

POLITICS OF BHARAT RATNA

Incidentally, Morarji Bhai had scrapped the entire system of civilian honours in India in 1977 and had asked the previous recipients not to use the title in the future. He was convinced that the previous government had degraded the honour and it should be scrapped. But in 1980 Indira Gandhi reintroduced the Bharat Ratna, making a mockery of the system by recommending herself. Since then the award has been used like the other coveted perk of political loyalty: the governor’s job.........Ever since Jawaharlal Nehru and his daughter Indira pulled off the farce of nominating themselves as India’s gems, the award has been routinely misused to either honour people who serve the interests of the ruling dispensation or to deny it to deserving political rivals......If MG Ramachandran and K Kamaraj are Bharat Ratnas, Atal Behari Vajpayee should have got it thrice by now solely on the basis of his stature as a national leader compared to many other regional politicians. (First Post Bharat Ratna for Vajpayee, Malaviya: Here's why govt should rename award by Sandipan Sharma Dec 24, 2014 20:55 IST)

The only regret Vajpayee’s supporters will have is that he is getting it at a time when his health is very poor – in more or less a vegetative state. He does not talk and is said to express his feelings largely through facial expressions. He, incidentally, had dismissed demands for awarding him the Bharat Ratna when he was PM with his characteristic one liner: how can someone honour oneself? by Sanjay Singh Dec 25, 2014 FIRST POST

List of Bharat Ratna awardees
Last Updated: Wednesday, December 24, 2014 - New Delhi: Following is the list of Bharat Ratna winners:
-Rajiv Gandhi (Posthumous) (1944-1991) - 1991
-Indira Gandhi (1917-1984) - 1971 Awarded to herself as she was the prime minister then.
J-awaharlal Nehru (1889-1964) - 1955 Awarded to himself as he was the prime minister then.

                                                   ------------

A police officer friend of mine who was in charge of the security of a VVIP got one of the annual awards like Padma Shri etc. one year and admitted to me, with his sense of humor, that it was the reward by being a dignified body guard. An optician also got one such award. A doctor who gives a medicine to the president of India for liver pain may also get such an award. It is not a title according to a judgment of the Supreme Court I had argued but the police officer met the argument by saying that it is a "topi" (cap) with a feather.

Controversies surrounding it
When Bhim Sen Joshi, Subbu Lakshmi, Lata Mangeshkar got Bharat Ratna there was perhaps no controversy as everyone seemed to have accepted it as the most deserving but a “though” is added still and some other names are talked about. I agree and I will have preferred Kishori Amonkar.

When Sachin Tendulkar got it it was accepted with some hesitation because Dhyan Chand should have been on the top of the list was an argument in a heated debate. If Dhyan Chand is to be considered why not senior Balbir Singh who has the record of “”maximum number of goals in a hockey match in Olympics was also an argument. ”His Olympic record for most goals scored by an individual in an Olympic men's hockey final remains unbeaten. Singh set this record when he scored five goals in India's 6-1 victory over the Netherlands in the gold medal game of the 1952 Olympic Games.” But I had told him (31 Dec 1923/17:30:10/ Ludhiana) that in the mahadasha of Venus in the eighth house chances were not strong. Yet, in these controversies there is no grudging the award still.

Politician Bharat Ratnas galore
It is different when it is given to politicians as has happened in India and very ludicrous when the serving prime minister like Jawaharlal Nehru
and Indira Gandhi who preside over the cabinet committee to decide who should be awarded Bharat Ratna decide to award it to themselves as shown above. Someone gave the statistics to show that twenty one out of forty three Bharat Ratna awarded have been to politicians, some of them of mediocre provincial stature but of the Congress party. Now it is the turn of the BJP to award it to their own icons. No one will remember Gen.Manekshaw in this heat.

The valid question being asked is if it could be given to Rajiv Gandhi why not to the savour of Indian economy P.V.Narasimha Rao. The debate is unending.

This award looked very majestic and dignified when it was awarded to Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan of Pakistan in 1987 and the late former South African president Nelson Mandela in 1990. It looked irrational when it was given to Mother Teresa and not to Baba Amte and showed our well known national inferiority complex. In this context no one talked of Avdhoot Ram of the Keena Ram ashram of Varanasi.

In that sense Atal Behari Vajpai showed modesty and dignity is what Congress men grudging awards to Madan Mohan Malviya and A.B.Vajpai should emember. Our generation who admired Madan Mohan Malviya are pleased but can we justify it ? Why not to Gopal Krishna Gokhale, Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Bipin Chand Pal etc. if it is to be awarded posthumously ?

Self Awards
True, this is an unending controversy. Why it should interest astrologers is it shows that such decisions are taken only when the
favourable dasha or antardasha comes. But there is no research nor can there be one to predict who will get a Bharat Ratna and when. No details will ever be vailable on which date, month and year such decisions were taken to help us do a sound research.

BUT AS ASTROLOGERS SEE WHEN THEY GOT
1)Nehru awarded it to himself perhaps at the fag end of his Mars mahadasha or got himself nominated in this period in the antardasha of Moon both highly favourable. It was the dasha of the tenth lord.

2)Indira Gandhi awarded it to herself in the dasha of Saturn aspecting her tenth house.

3)Subbbu Lakshmi got it in the antardasha of Ketu or Venus both in her tenth house.

4)Lata got it in 2001 in the antardasha of Saturn her tenth lord.

5)I have burnt my finger by using a wrong horoscope of Tendulkar and have apologized for it. But according the Karka lagna horoscope of 24 April birth he got it in the antardasha of Venus in the tenth house.

6)Atal Behari gets it at the fag end of the mahadasha  of Jupiter aspecting the tenth house and conjoined with the tenth lord. But then is the correct horoscope of Atalji being used ? Thereby hang  a tale.

Those tales hang
What are they ?

1) We astrologers burn our fingers often by hurriedly using wrong horoscopes or unrectified birth time with correct horoscopes. It can never be helped and we must admit this as weakness in our astrological analysis. But we can never help it and better is avoid predicting about them.

2) But if you come out with a fancifuly new ayanamsha replacing Lahiri work on it for fifteen years to convince yourself first but after developing proper predictive powers and techniques. Then publish a book showing your research, circulate it and if others are convinced, approach the HRD ministry, not an institution teaching astrology to flatter yourself for your “success”.

3) If you say that India and Pakistan were given birth on the same day, check your facts from various sources before launching into an abuse
of those who do not accept your fanciful theories.

4) If you say that Makar lagna alone should be used both for Pakistan and India and also for Iraq for all mundane predictions, get yourself checked by a psychiatrist and do not bombard your fanciful astrology through internet into everyone’s emails.

5) Again do not bombard everyone’s email by saying that earthquakes will take place because most ordinary students of astrology know that around full Moon, new Moon, eclipses earthquakes take place. There are more than 80,000 earth tremors all round the year. A research about earthquake will be to point out the date, the location, the time and its intensity which we are not able to do yet. Every fortnight you can predict that earthquakes will take place and refer to different websites to prove your “great astrological forecasting ability.”

6) From my experience I know that when we get horoscopes of well known people  but not yet in high positions, generally the horoscopes got are
correct. It is later when they rise high that they conceal these details. Four of the cabinet ministers in the cabinet of  Narendra Modi are getting their wrong horoscopes circulated through their favourite astrologers was the news immediately following the conclusion of the 2014 elections. It was true in two cases is what I know because these people had consulted me when they were half nobodys cum unrecognized VIPs.

Again  see the horoscope of Atal Behari Vajpayi whose year of birth have been, at different times, 1926.1925 and now 1924 when suppressing the year of birth will do him no damage. This has been explained in a Hindi biography of his.

AB Vajpai Horscope - Journal of AstrologyI have narrated how I got the correct horoscope of A.B.Vajpai many times. The person who gave me  this horoscope asked me not to disclose the birth-details. I  predicted very successfully twice about him in advance, in writing once in Houston in USA as early as 1995 and once in a television programme that he would become the prime minister in 1996 and also wrote in the Hindi Hindustan that it would be a short lived tenure. Other horoscopes being used  by some astrologers are wrong. But later I saw many astrologers predicting “successfully” that he would be the prime minister of India on the basis of the 1925 horoscope with Tula lagna and getting huge congratulations from BJP politicians.

All this I wrote because people asked me about astrological reaction of many of us to the decision to award Bharat Ratna to MMM and ABV. And I added that it could not have been predicted. We can do only a post mortem analysis which will benefit none.

But I am happy that Atalji got it and he deserved it more than Kamraj Nadar, G.B.Pant or Rajiv Gandhi and many other politicians of the past era. But such games will go on. Now with BJP in power expect the lesser known, the forgotten and even deserving Hindu icons will be noticed and rescued from the fading pages of Congress dominated era of  Indian history. History has changed now and now the Congress men can fear that they would be thrown into the dustbin of history as far as the Bharat Ratna awards are concerned.
