WITHERING AWAY OF CONGRESS PARTY
Is ours an ideal democracy!! Hardly so, it is far from being an ideal democracy; where there should be  two equal opponents, like Conservative and Labour party in Britain; like Republican and Democratic party in USA. As for India, for the two major parties here i.e. Congress and BJP there has never been a state of relative equilibrium. There was a time when Congress was all powerful for a long time, BJP had not come into existence then. BJP came into existence and gradually spread its wings and the status now of present election result on 23 May 2019 is that BJP alone bagged 303 seats and 353 seats along with its NDA Alliance. Congress on the other hand could muster only 52 seats; along with UPA, Congress got 91. Other parties won 98 seats. What to talk of equality, Congress party could not win even 55 seats which is the requisite 10 % to become the official opposition. leer más leer más

FADING FEDERER vs DARING DJOKOVIC

India is not a land of great sportsmen but of great sports lovers, fans created by the media and enormous money power possessing hoarders of black money, it is said. Women, for example, discuss cricket without knowing the difference between a googly and out an swinger. This cricket crazy country may have more women followers of the game than the entire population of UK where this game either originated or became a popular through the patronage it had received in the nineteenth and twentieth century. One over domesticated house wife one day told me that she enjoyed the sixers hit in a match she saw on the television screen. Were those sixers falling within the boundary lines or outside, I had asked her. She apologized to me for not noticing it !!

In tennis, the crazy Indian fans are mostly males, with their favorites among the great foreign players and extremely fanatical and sentimental in their adoration of their favorite players one of whom Roger Federer is the supreme icon they worship. Understanding a fanatic fan who does not see brilliant performance of the opponent of his favorite player with objective judgement is difficult and a fatuous attempt. Why not appreciate both objectively ? Fanaticism is an incurable disease like religious fundamentalism.

In 2008, when I wrote about the declining years of Federer I did receive angry mails in which it was clear that these fellows did not understand the meaning of “decline”. Decline did not mean that Federer would never win anymore grandslam. “Decline” means a continual fall in performance. The simple inference was that unlike earlier years his dominance would get reduced. Federer was only 27 years old then, not old enough to decline. But it is what happened as the following figures reveal.

Grand Slam Singles results
Australian Open W (2004, 2006, 2007, 2010) 4
French Open W (2009) 1
Wimbledon W (2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2009, 2012) 7
US Open W (2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008) 5

Divide Federer’s pre January 2008 story of winning grand slams and post 2008 victories.

Pre 2008
2003 One, 2004 Three, 2005 Two, 2006 Three 2007 Three, 2008 One - THIRTEEN in six years!

Post 2008
2009 Two,2010 One ,2011 None, 2012 One 2013 None 2014 None 2015 None FOUR IN SEVEN YEARS with 2011, 2013, 2014 and 2015 with no slams at all.

Won the post 2008 grand slams without facing Nadal !!

Remember that all post 2008 grand slams Federer won were without facing Nadal. Read http:/ /www.sportskeeda.com/tennis/roger-federer-vs-rafael-nadal-greatest-of-all-time (see extracts in the appendix)

Before 2008 he was winning at least two grand slams per year and after 2008 he won two slams only in 2009 and all these without facing his nemesis Rafael Nadal against whom he has a dismal head to head record:

Of their 33 matches, 15 have been on clay, 15 have been on hard court, and three have been on grass. Federer has a winning record on grass (2–1), while Nadal leads on clay (13–2) and hard court (9–6). Nadal leads the head-to-head of their 11 Grand Slam matches (9–2), with five of these wins on the clay courts of Roland Garros, and both losses on grass at Wimbledon.”

Federer has been better against Nadal only on grass courts.

Nadal a perennial injury hit great player has four more years at least of great tennis and if he wins one grandslam per year he will equal Federer’s record and if more than one per year he will beat it.

But between these two who is more aes¬thetic to watch? Federer beats all, past and present players perhaps. It appears very ugly to see the two handed backhanded returns with the whole body getting contorted unlike the flowing smooth, one handed backhand with graceful footwork and dancing steps. Federer is the greatest artist in tennis I have watched but I am no one’s fan. I watch tennis matches on merits.

Federer vs Djokovic head to head record should give us a thrilling match if we look as these figures "Despite his brilliance, Djokovic actually has a pretty poor record in US Open finals - his sole victory came in 2011, and he has lost in the final on four other occasions. Federer, on the other hand, has been pretty ruthless when the trophy is in his sights - he’s 5-1 in the final at the US Open. Then again, he hasn’t been to the final here since 2009. “ Again “Federer and Djokovic have faced each other 41 times previously. Federer leads the series 20¬21. He also has a small edge at the US Open against the Serb - he has won three of their five meetings at Flushing Meadows, although Djokovic has won the most recent two of their matches here. The only time they’ve played each other in a US Open final was in 2007, when Federer won in straight sets.”

New Avatar of Federer
The Federer of 2015 in US tennis is a rejuvenated Federer enjoying a second birth, a rebirth, willing to rush to attack the second service, generally weak, to the mid court more now than ever before and hit it after a hop. That may be the Edberg effect and we sometimes get glimpses of Becker, Edberg era of tennis now. Then he is seen doing net play almost like the serve and volley era of the Sampras generation of tennis players. This new avatar did make me enthusiastic enough to keep me awake till midnight to watch the final between Federer and Djokovic in the final of the US tennis 2015. Who will win ? I have no favourte but was more interested how Djokovic would counter the new brilliant tactics of Federer of 2015. Earlier we were talking of Federer-Nadal rivalry and now it is Federer-Djokovic and tonight, as I write this, we will watch it. (12/45 am14 September 2015)

It is their 42nd meeting and for Federer it is historic as if he wins he will become "the first player in the open era to win six US Open titles and the oldest champion here since Ken Rosewall in 1970.

Djokovic, meanwhile, has joined Federer and Rod Laver as just the third player in the open era to reach all four grand slam finals in a single season. “ In that sense there is interesting tennis history in this match.

I looked at their horoscopes. I had no time to write it and post it before the match. In a sense it becomes a post mortem analysis. What happened has been summarized thus “”Federer was not the only obstacle Djokovic had to overcome, as the champion withstood immense support for his opponent throughout the match. At times passion spilled over into hostility, as some spectators jeered Djokovic’s shots and faults, which understandably agitated the Serbian, who ripped a button on his shirt after a particularly vociferous celebration. “Obviously over the course of a three hours, 20 minute”

The expectations from Federer reaching the US finals after so many years were great and the international press built up such a frenzy , particularly after the defeat of Serena Williams failing to equal the record of Steffi Graff. The reason was the Edberg effect as a result of which Federer was now rushing to the net more often and aggressively and the overpublicized SABR about which a write up reads thus” Whatever the result, though the Swiss pair are, at least, unlikely to have fallen out over Federer’s controversial new shot: the so-called SABR.If you haven’t yet heard of it, the SABR - which stands for Sneak Attack By Roger - basically involves Federer advancing on his opponent’s second serve to hit a half-volley right on the edge of the service box before rushing the net.”

Before the match, some astrologers asked me what was my own reading since now I had got the horoscope of Djokovic from Rodden’s website rated as AA. Djokovic very clearly I had told them. Then keeping awake at night, suffering even the torture of rain delay, I saw the whole match. Djokovic won as was the astrological reading.

In the meantime, Rodden’s website has given the horoscope also of Rafael Nadal rated AA. If this is to be relied on, Nadal can be expected to be overcome his lean patch and stage a comeback next year. Djokovic must have a serious challenged from next year, someone other than Federer and it can be only Nadal suffering too many injuries and giving poor performances though he has 12 grandslams and was expected to reach and surpass the record of Federer.World tennis then may witness Nadal -Djokovic duels with Federer watching it from sidelines. So one of these can be expected to beat the record of Roger Federer who is being called the greatest tennis till now.

Djokovic is running Karka Dhanu Dhanu now with the Amatyakaraka Jupiter, Putrakaraka Moon and Darakaraka Mars all aspecting the tenth house.

In Vimshottari it is Ketu in the tenth house, Jupiter aspecting the tenth house and Venus aspect-ing his own eleventh house of achievement.

Here the antardashas of Dhanu and pratyatara becomes unfavourble with Amk going into the eighth house. It means that there will be some struggle in achieving victory ultimately as happened clearly as after winning the second set, Federer was better placed in the crucial third set which he might have won but for the dour defence of indefatigable Djokovic.

Amatyakaraka Jupiter aspects the tenth house here from Karka but from the eighth house while Karka has MK and the tenth house is as-pected by BK showing the determined fight he will put up.

In Vimshottari dasha Ketu Jupiter Venus , one in the tenth house, the other aspecting the tenth house and the pratyantara dasha lord Venus aspecting the eleventh house of his victory is a clear astrological indication . It is favourable in the navamsha also. It improves in the dashamansha with Ketu in the fourth house, Jupiter exalted and Venus in the second house as the second lord.

Federer Horoscope - Jouranal of AstrologyNow see Federer’s horoscope

It is the mahadasha of Mercury the eleventh lord in the twelfth lord which was the indication, when this started in 2008, of his decline. The antardasha of Moon the twelfth lord better placed in the third house of a good fight he was going to put up and the pratyantara dasha of Jupiter aspecting the tenth house indicating a good show.

In Jaimini’s chara dasha Kumbha Mesha and Meena and the tenth house here receives the aspect of Gnathikaraka, Darakaraka and Matrikaraka. It is not promising any great achievement here.

Federer’s future also does not show any great achievement in future grand slams though his performances will be creditable still even though he would be thirty five years old next year.

An Australian wrote somewhere why was Rod Laver not being called the greatest ever tennis player instead of Roger Federer as he had won nineteen slams if his pre open and open era victories are totalled up. A write up about Laver is given here.

“Laver's 200 singles titles are the most in tennis history, and he holds the all-time male singles records of 22 titles in a single season (1962) and seven consecutive years (1964–70) winning at least 10 titles per season. He excelled on all of the court surfaces of his time: grass, clay, hard, carpet, and wood/parquet. Despite being barred from playing the Grand Slam tournaments for the five years prior to the Open Era, he still won 11 singles titles because he was the only player to twice achieve The Grand Slam, in 1962 and 1969, and remains the only man
to do so during the Open Era. He also won eight Pro Slam titles, including winning the Pro "Grand Slam" in 1967, and contributed to five Davis Cup titles for Australia during an age when Davis Cup was deemed as significant as the Grand Slams.
