The Pioneer
From the outer edge to the centre of India

Sandhya Jain
On August 15, 2013, from the dry borderland of Kutch, the quintessential periphery, Narendra Modi aimed his darts at New Delhi, and hinted to a desperate nation about who would stand at the Red Fort in 2014
According to an apocryphal story about Chandragupta Maurya, the conqueror’s first attempt to seize the kingdom of Magadh failed. Wandering in disguise one night, he came across a mother scolding her son for chewing his bread from the middle. “Eat the outer sides first and then move to the centre of the roti. Not like Chandragupta Maurya who straightaway attacks the center”, she admonished. The challenger learnt a valuable lesson, and the rest is history.
In 2009, it was expected that the BJP and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh would select the Gujarat Chief Minister as Prime Ministerial candidate; but Mr. L K Advani unilaterally announced his candidature and lost the election ingloriously. In Gujarat, the aspirant learnt a precious lesson: He would mark the ground skillfully, advance along the peripheries, and go for the kill.
===================================
Modi, like a clever general, as said in the article of Sandhya Jain, should now inspire astrologers to make a prediction about the Congress party which in the post Sonia period around 2015 is on the verge of near death through split, through the declared intention of Modi to see a Congress mukt India. Make a prediction now and show it later as a proof of your astrological prowess and not as is happening now when many astrologers are vying to claim credit for the prediction of the outcome of the just concluded sensational prediction.
Anyway let me conclude this series with some incidents not known to many for the benefit of many good and sound astrologers whose moral probity is well known.
Uma Shankar Dixit
Before my transfer to Delhi in April 1978 an interview of my younger brother who was arrested during the National Emergency 1975, had appeared in the now defunct Hindi weekly the Dharmayug. In that interview he had said that only my astrological prediction about the fall of the Indira Gandhi in 1977 and my meeting him between March and May of that year outside the jail, referring to me, as I told him, as “an elder brother of mine who is an astrologer”, was a piece of consolation during the torments given to prisoners by the regime of Indira.” George Fernandez and others saw it, read it and wondered later, when it did happen how it could happen. That was a prediction sent in a veiled way in a letter which was delivered after the intelligence agency concerned had cleared it and has been mentioned in one of the books of my younger brother, Manenge Nahi, Marenge Nahi.
And then the late Raja Saheb Maqsoodpur to whom I had given a prediction in 1972 of his entering the Rajya Sabha in 1978, publicized it in Delhi even before I reached Delhi. Through Raja Saheb came many politicians with their horoscopes which I continued till 1994 after which I moved into my small apartment which I bought.
Soon after my arrival in Delhi, I got authentic horoscopes of many politicians, now out of power or dead. Invariably in the astrological journals both in English and Hindi I saw their horoscopes discussed with all wrong birth details and horoscopes. That happens on the internet also.
WARNING: Do not accept as authentic horoscopes given in different websites and in the Face Book etc. and ruin your astrology. Astrologers do that to promote themselves. Then there are those astro pests all over the internet who circulate some irrational and ludicrous claims just to promote themselves, cheat many people and spread rumors about others. One such pest recently wrote that I had also used the Tula lagna horoscope of Modi once which I never did as I have given the horoscope only in the second article in this series written by Pammi Barthwal. I then explained in the third piece why Vrischika lagna alone was acceptable to me. Get used to such pests as they come and go and die a natural death, their astrological death coming sooner than expected. In 1998 when I had started participating in astrological discussions I was shocked to discover that most of the astrologers indulging in slandering each others were Brahmin astrologers!!! Brahmins with the samskaras of Shudras do that instead of keeping alive a spirit of healthy discussion, I concluded, myself being a Brahmin.
====================================
I got a message from the late Uma Shankar Dixit , a former Home Minister in the Indira Gandhi cabinet and the father in law of Sheila Dixit, to meet him at once. When I met him he told never to go to the house of politicians who would consult me , my reputation having been established by then after the Dharmyug interview. He told me that the government had planted spies in many places and warned me never to discuss astrological matters about important people in politics ever on phone. He could say that because he was once also the Home Minister in the cabinet of Indira Gandhi.
WARNING: Remember you are watched and the intelligence agencies spy on you. The legacy of Indira Gandhi and later Rajiv Gandhi has been to spy on their opponents both outside and inside their party at the cost of national interests. The joke then, as I know from my friends in the intelligence agencies, was that the terrorists were safer than astrologers, when it came to being watched by intelligence agencies. Remember that Rajiv Gandhi had got the anti-terrorist act amended to include astrologers also in it if it was a prediction about a politician who had entered the parliament after swearing by the constitution of India. Let me quote from the Times of India. ”After the death of Rajiv Gandhi, newspaper men thought with their usual ignorance that no astrologer had predicted this tragic event. Then a very decent journalist of the Times of India, Vandana Mandlekar, contacted me and after examining all the evidences, wrote in the Times of India, June 6, 1991) the following : In all fairness sample these hints... K.N. Rao analyzing Rajiv Gandhi’s horoscope in the August 1990 issue of the Times of Astrology wrote: – The Times of India
“The Pisces-Sagittarius period (June 6, 1990 to August 20, 1991) is a period of Simhavlokan, a period of total change in his political style of functioning... a time of risks and dangerous dare- devilry, a cataclysmic change which can be both fatal and spectacular”. Rao emphasizes that he had detected a primary maraka indicating death) in the June 1990 to August 1991 period.
Then why did Rao word it so cautiously in his interview to another magazine in April? (“There will be attempts on the lives of big leaders” is all he said). He did not want to invite the provisions of the Anti-Terrorist Act, he explains.
The Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act ironically passed by the Rajiv Gandhi government in 1987, has become the proverbial Aunt Sally for astrologers now. The act, for the first time, lumped stargazers with terrorists to declare that action would be taken against whoever “predicts, prophesies or pronounces or otherwise expresses, in such manner as to incite, advise, suggest or prompt, the killing or the destruction of any persons bound by oath under the Constitution...”
Thus, an astrologer predicting Rajiv Gandhi’s assassination would have been liable to a minimum of seven years’ imprisonment.
===================================
I have followed the advice of Uma Shankar Dixitji strictly except eight or ten times and am grateful to him because I called him dada during my Lucknow days when he was something of a respected and affectionate uncle to me , a teenager student then.
After I shifted to my present apartment my collection of horoscopes of politicians became poorer as there is no chance of the politicians meeting me secretly as they did when I stayed , before my retirement, in the privacy of government bungalow where I had stayed till then.
WARNING: Many politicians do not want to admit that they consult astrologers but they do consult them in the secrecy, preferably, late in the night. If you get their authentic horoscope, do not reveal it and pass it on people till their careers are over. Their horoscopes can be rich material for research.
====================================
VP Singh attack on him
While I was still in service, I was asked by the late V.P.Singh, to meet him at his house and I did, ignoring the advice of dadda, and warned him that he would be attacked physically very shortly.
Few days after that he was attacked in a meeting in Delhi university but he had escaped unhurt. After he became the prime minister and introduced the Mandal Commission reservations, I avoided him and even when he sent me request to meet him, I did not.
WARNING: If you love or hate a politician, do not give predictions to him or about him as you are already biased and have lost your objectivity. I had seen Delhi university students being beaten mercilessly by police men during the agitation against the imposition of the Mandal report and had started disliking V. P. Singh. I knew that I would not be able to give him honest predictions any more.
WARNING: An astrologer had predicted in a newspaper that in September 1988 VP would be killed. In an astrological seminar while discussing the horoscope of V.P. Singh I only said that V.P. in his Mercury Venus period had run into a very favorable time. A young woman astrologer had said in the same seminar that V.P. Singh would become the prime minister of India. Soon this astrologer gave another prediction that he (V.P. Singh) would be- come prime minister. He suppressed his earlier prediction about the assassination of V.P. Singh and claimed credit for the later prediction. I had only said in that seminar, which he had attended, about a very favorable time for V.P. Singh and not that he would become the prime minister. But he twisted it, took a risk and ---well.
====================================
Chandrasekhar PM
Few months before my retirement from my government service in 1990, I was requested by the late Hiralal Chaubey to meet Chandrasekhar at his residence in Delhi. I, a disciple of the late Acharya Narendra Dev, in my briefest political life of two years, had met Chandrasekhar, also the disciple of Acharyaji, in Lucknow once or twice. I met him along in August 1990 with late Hiralal Chaubey when I had given him the prediction of his becoming the prime minister of India in 1990 and the fall of V.P. Singh. It happened as predicted and I had retired from my service before that fortunately. This finds a mention in the biography of Chandrasekhar written in Hindi by Hiralal Chaubey “Chandrasekhar --Ek Jeevani.
WARNING: In the case of politicians with a birth in a country side, not in hospitals, in families not known for the need for correct horoscopes, do not even accept the horoscope passed on by the politician unless it has been examined thoroughly. In the case of Chandrasekhar I had to even change his lagna before giving him an extra ordinary prediction. I had rectified it after two nights work then.
===================================
Natwar Singh
Mr. Natwar Singh was introduced to me by late Raja Dinesh Singh and I got the horoscopes of the entire family of Shri Singh when he was the Secretary of the External Affairs Ministry. With still five years of his service left, when he consulted me in 1984, I predicted to him that he would join politics soon after taking premature retirement from his service and become a cabinet minister. It all happened as predicted. Later, when I was posted to Bhubaneswar in 1985 he came on a tour to that city to meet me and introduced me to some important politicians of Odissha whose horoscopes I have. But I did not give any predictions to them during my posting there to avoid gossip being a government servant.
NOTE: In all these cases, I had the correct and authentic horoscopes collected directly from the persons wanting to consult me in secret meetings.
=====================================
That chapter of my life is over now and I cannot and do not collect authentic and correct horoscopes in which I have no interest now, having seen so many politicians for more than thirty years and their limitless insatiable ambitions and, strangely, lack of genuine patriotism. No politician and I have been consulted by hundreds of them, ever showed any patriotic zeal is the strangest experience of mine. Their only interest is in their own careers and of course their families.
Atal Bihari’s horoscope
I never met Atalji but was interested in getting his horoscope because I have always liked him and liked his broad mindedness apart from pleasing oratory. Some Congress leaders did collect his horoscope with ulterior motive, and gave it to me which I rejected as some well-known events of Atalji were not reflected in them. Later, a Gwalior astrologer collected one from his place and gave me the Vrischika lagna horoscope of 1924 which clearly showed his subjects of study in his student’s days as political science and law. On that basis I predicted clearly in Houston, reported in newspapers then in 1995 and later, in a television interview in India and some newspapers, about the BJP coming into power which happened briefly in 1996 and later after 1998 till 2004.
NOTE: In the Hindi biography of Atal Behari Vajpayee the horoscope given is of Vrischika lagna with 1924 birth which I alone had used till then. But astrologers who had “claimed” great predictions about him ignored it still and do so even now. It is why I have coined for such astrologers who claim big credit for “successful predictions” a new word “GUESSOLOGISTS”. In the concluded elections once again a new generation of guessologists have dominated and discussed astrology on the internet and in television channels.
WARNING: For many years, on the website of the government of India the year of birth of Atalji was given as 1926. Remember that the details of birth picked up from the internet are most doubtful even now.
WARNING: Referring to the horoscope, let me warn young astrologers, that as many ten different horoscopes of A. B. Vajpayee were circulated and there were astrologers and astrologers predicting on each one of them of his becoming the prime minister of India !!
=====================================
TEN COMMANDMENTS FOR ASTROLOGERS
1) Number of seats
Many astrologers claim to have predicted the number of seats a party would get. There is no tested method of doing it. It is a guess, sometimes sound. It is not astrology but GUESSOLOGY pure and simple.
Remember that in the election of 2014, the BJP got only 31 percent votes and captured 283 seats which never happened before. The reason is that the votes of others parties got fragmented and the BJP benefitted which astrologers could not have predicted.
In 1984, the Congress party, in the post Indira Gandhi assassination election, got more than 400 seats and this time only 44.All poll surveys were correctly predicting less than 100 seats for the Congress party but no astrologer could do it through any time tested method.
2. No politician gives you full information and wants you to give you predictions without helping you to verify his horoscope. On such occasions you remember Samuel Johnson’s definition of politics being the last refuge of a scoundrel.
3. Some politicians of religions, other than that of Hindus, will consult you but never admit that they consult astrologers. One very important constitutional dignitary of a non-Hindu community consulted me through his confidante on a crucial occasion two years ago but refused to admit it even to his own circle of friends who knew all about it. Do not feel offended as they cannot afford to annoy the mullahs of their religion.
4. When a politician comes to consult you do not discuss the horoscope of other politicians with him as it is highly unethical, even dangerous.
5. When you become a well-known astrologer your predictions are stolen and others take
credit for it. Live with and do not protest as you can never do anything about it.
6. When “I” becomes predominant in your claims about correct prediction given and publicized, it is the beginning of your downfall.
7. There are some astrologers who are very close to some politicians, even their secretaries as late Anand Singh was to Raja Dinesh Singh. They will bluff you or even give you wrong horoscopes of their bosses to mislead you unless a sound prediction is absolutely necessary. Anand was honest with me but I had seen him bluffing other astrologers in my presence with wrong horoscopes.
8. Astrologers who edit non serious astrological journals give different predictions in different issues about the same subject. In 1987 one astrologer predicted bountiful rain in one issue and drought in another and at the end of the south west monsoon showed to people what suited him.
9. One astrologer predicted that on 26 January 2001 an important political leader would be assassinated. But the Bhuj earthquake took place on that day and he, making use of his contacts with journalists, immediately claimed that he had predicted it and even appeared in a television channel to boast about it.
10. There is one politician who gives his wrong horoscope with what he says is his correct birth time to all astrologers except one whom he consults. He does it to mislead people and his opponents. But he relies on the astrological readings of an astrologer he trusts.
TAILPIECE
In the first part of this series I said HEREBYHANGSATALE which I did not explain. Let me explain it. My prediction of January 2013 of NDA forming the next government was published in the Journal of Astrology of Jan-Feb 2001 which a senior Congress minister of the UPA government had read and expressed his annoyance.
I do not know what he is saying now. But I do not blame him as politicians are mean human beings.
