Just as you begin to grow mature you will learn that you have to avoid discussing astrology with an astro-neophyte as much as the dogmatic pandit who argues that his interpretation of a shloka from a Jyotisha book or even a sutra alone is correct. Challenge him, if you are in a mood to argue with him, to show the correctness of his interpretation on ten horoscopes and he will run away but become your enemy for the rest of your life. On such occasions remember God and Oliver Goldsmith both. “Every absurdity has a champion to defend it.” – Oliver Goldsmith. Remember Oliver Goldsmith again “If you were to make little fishes talk, they would talk like whales.”
Some events of her life of most charismatic woman leader in the recent history of the world, the most powerful prime minister of India till today, Indira Gandhi’s horoscope and predictions given about her have ruined the reputations of many astrologers in India as she ruined the political careers of many Indian leaders. For astrologers, the interpretation of the famous exchanges in her horoscope, has been an enigma and also a lesson. From the Jaimini angle and Chara dasha it is equally interesting and provides new insights for our thinking.
Dishonest politicians of India are known for their duplicity and saying in press statements and interviews that do not believe in astrology and that they never got right predictions from astrologers. Dear Mr Rao I read your article on Amitabh Bachchan denying reports of astrological remedies, etc. The man is a liar. If you look at his hands, his wife's hands and son's hands, they're studded with rings. Amitabh himself wears a huge blue saphire. Not for show, certainly. I've heard from a source that he goes to a tantrik in Benares. Where his bahu is concerned, her community, the Bunts, worship Bhootnath - Shiva as lord of the netherworld - and do all that goes with such worship.
.....Amitabh's father's autobiography for Penguin Books (English translation). It states that Harvanshrai's grandfather was so poor that he went to a saint of the Ramanand sect in Allahabad for blessings. The saint gave him three vessels and said that so long as his descendents had these, they would never lack. The turn in fortune began after that. I assume this branch of the family still has one of the vessels. Incidentally, I have it from someone who knows the Gandhis well that the split with the Bachchans was because ......
