KASHMIR (Updated)
Today, 5 August 2019 has become a historic day in our history as something which could not be done in 70 years has taken shape now. Union Home minister Amit Shah has announced that Article 370 which grants special status to the state of Jammu and Kashmir will be scrapped. He also announced that Jammu and Kashmir will no longer be a state and it will be bifurcated into two Union Territories— Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.  Čítať viac...Čítať viac...
WITHERING AWAY OF CONGRESS PARTY
Is ours an ideal democracy!! Hardly so, it is far from being an ideal democracy; where there should be  two equal opponents, like Conservative and Labour party in Britain; like Republican and Democratic party in USA. As for India, for the two major parties here i.e. Congress and BJP there has never been a state of relative equilibrium. There was a time when Congress was all powerful for a long time, BJP had not come into existence then. BJP came into existence and gradually spread its wings and the status now of present election result on 23 May 2019 is that BJP alone bagged 303 seats and 353 seats along with its NDA Alliance. Congress on the other hand could muster only 52 seats; along with UPA, Congress got 91. Other parties won 98 seats. What to talk of equality, Congress party could not win even 55 seats which is the requisite 10 % to become the official opposition. Čítať viac...Čítať viac...

KARNATAKA DING DONG

"There is raj yoga in Yediyurappa's horoscope, but ask him to be patient. Let Kumaraswamy take his time," K.N. Rao, regarded by many as a "doyen of political astrology", had told Yediyurappa's pointman in THE WEEK's presence. (The issue the Week of 4 November 2007 out in the market on 27 Oct 2007).

Sun Mars from 30 Sept 2007. It is the dasha of the ninth lord and the antardasha of the fifth lord. Meena Simha in Chara dasha Atmakaraka Mars Amatyakaraka Jupiter From Meena the rajayoga of AK and AmK are in fourth and tenth houses while from Simha it is better the axis being five and eleven.

I never expected this private conversation between me and a person in Karnataka who had passed on to me the horoscope of Yediyurapaa to appear in print. But it was just one of those occasions when the correspondent of the Week was sitting in my house and this conversation took place when I was not even expecting the call from Karnataka.

One person, who is a keen astrologer, had given me the horoscope of Yediyurappa and, in the briefest conversations he generally has with me, on phone, he wanted to know what would happen to Yediyurappa. I did say what has been quoted in the Week but perhaps used the dasha frame which the correspondent did not understand who however has not misquoted me.

Twice this correspondent wanted to interview me on the story on astrology and politicians by the Week but I declined it. I did not want any publicity anymore and now avoid such interviews now. It arouses more jealousy and there is the risk of being misquoted by these journalists who do not know astrology.

One woman journalist of an English national daily had interviewed me some years ago and other astrologers, and in rewriting the whole stories, as she has been wrongly taught in her journalism classes, she jumbled it up all. My predictions appeared under the name of someone else and others under mine! This is the level of journalism now in India.

What is the level of honest democratic practices?

Bihar, Jharkhand and Goa are fresh in the memories of lovers of democracies and we also remember how the former noble, impartial President Abdul Kalam was misled once into a wrong decision which was commented upon adversely by the Supreme Court of India. Must this go again to the Supreme Court and invite an adverse comment? Will that restore sanity in Indian democracy and politics?

This is real hard news (29 October) covered properly by one news channel in English. What the newspapers were saying could not be known as the BSNL server was down and we could not read them. With lot of difficulty the Asian Age website was accessed and the story given is;

:: BJP, JD-S takes 129 MLAs to governor (By Bhaskar Hegde and S.A. Hemanth Kumar)
http://www.asianage.com/

Bangalore, Oct. 29: The first episode in the political soap opera, which started unfolding in Karnataka on Saturday, ended on Monday with the H.D. Deve Gowda faction of the Janata Dal (S) and the Bharatiya Janata Party jointly presenting their MLAs before the governor, Mr Rameshwar Thakur, to prove that they had a clear majority to form the government. In all, 129 MLAs were presented before Mr Thakur, including 79 from the BJP, 41 from the Dal(S), three JD (U) MLAs and six Independents. This is 16 more than the 113 required for a simple majority in the 225-member Karnataka Assembly.

Constitutional requirement

The constitutional requirement is that under Article 164, the leader of the majority group has to be invited after revoking Article 356 under which the President’s Rule was imposed. This will have to be done by the president of India after the recommendation of the Union Cabinet.

Will there be fairplay at least this time or will the Congress led UPA play it’s well known political trick and deprive Yeduriappa of his best chance of becoming the Chief Minister of Karnataka after all the vacillations of Deve Gowda and his son? I am posing this question on 30 October and will wait for developments for the next few days.

In the meantime the other sensational news is that 129 MLAs BJP, JD-S have given notice to the governor of Karnataka that they be invited by Tuesday (30 October) otherwise they are going to agitate all over Karnataka and are also going to march to the Raj Bhawan, the house of the governor.

BJP puts Governor on notice 10/30/2007 3:00:37 PM (TIMESNOW website)

The latest news is: Karnataka BJP petitions again: Gov to send report to Patil Bangalore, Oct 30 (PTI) Seeking to keep up the pressure, the BJP once again petitioned Governor Rameshwar Thakur today to invite it form a coalition government with JD(S) and announced the launch a march to Raj Bhawan tomorrow to press its demand. The BJP also threatened to launch a state-wide agitation if the Governor failed to invite it and JD(S) to form a government by this evening.

The BJP-JD(S) combine's Chief Ministerial nominee B S Yeddyurappa met Thakur for an hour at the Raj Bhavan and later told reporters that the Governor had assured them that he would send a report to the President in a day or two and that he was satisfied with the numbers that they have.

In the horoscope of BJP, a period of improvement will come from 2 November 2007 which can mean the success of Yediyurappa (said to have dropped “I” in his name on astrological advice, meaning numerological.

But BJP should be prepared for some mourning also now.

Yediyurappa’s own horoscope is quite strong at the moment as I had told my friend in Karnataka two months ago when he passed it one to me and asked me to predict.

If the Leftists and others are calling it a piece of opportunistic politics, what is new about it? When did it not exist in Indian politics since the days of Indira Gandhi? An opposition leader attacked it all by saying that if the Congress does it, it is called democratic norm and if the opposition does it, it becomes opportunism.

True, Deve Gowda who has been the prime minister for a brief period, decided to act as he feared that J.D (S) his party would be split by the Congress party, which wanted to stake a claim to the formation of the government.

Perhaps, we should tolerate it all if it does not lead to bloodshed as has been happening in many other countries.

Additionally, did not men of Tony Blair intrigue against Gordon Brown of the same party? To get their nomination finally are Hillary Clinton and Obama behaving very decently?

What is democracy? Abuse of people by people for people?

At any rate that is what I have seen in at least three decades of Indian politics which is sometimes disgusting, sometimes amusing and always confusing. But Yediyurappa stands a good chance is explained through his horoscope given below with both dashas, Vimshottari and Chara.
